M6.4 and M6.3 NORTHWESTERN IRAN on August 11th 2012 at 12:23 UTC

Two strong earthquakes of magnitude Mw 6.4 and Mw 6.3 occurred 11mn apart in Northwestern Iran on August 11th 2012 at 4pm local time. Severe damages are reported in the region of Ahar, Varzaghan and Tabriz. More than 300 casualties and more than 2,000 injuries are reported 24 hours after the main shocks. 30 aftershocks of magnitude larger than 3.5 have been recorded in the following day.
